Become a Digital Nomad
An online learning program designed to prepare young professionals with the information needed to start their journey to becoming a Digital Nomad.

Target Audience: Young Professionals working remotely
Responsibilities: Analysis, Instructional Design, eLearning Development, Visual Design
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, MindMeister
Overview
25% of all professional jobs are predicted to be remote by the end of 2022 (Ladders). With an increasing amount of young professionals working from home, new opportunities arise for where their "home" is located.
I identified a need for this training after speaking with multiple remote workers who expressed the desire to travel while working but weren't sure how to get started. Finding all of the information they might need to become a Digital Nomad was just too overwhelming.
I was able to determine the three key areas where they lacked information and compile it into a learning experience that would provide them with the tools to start their journeys.
Process
I began the process by analyzing the needs of the audience and determining the top 3 areas where they lacked information. I then worked closely with the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to create a mind map to break down the information into smaller, more digestible chunks for the learners.
I then created visual mockups using information gathered in the mind map to guide the look and feel of the learning experience. Following approval from the SME and stakeholders, I used the mind map and visual mockups to create the visual storyboard with included programming notes.
I then created an interactive prototype in Articulate Storyline. After incorporating the feedback from the SME and stakeholders on the prototype, I developed the project in Storyline.
Mind Map
After narrowing down the performance problem, I worked closely with the subject matter expert. We determined the key information that want-to-be travelers would need to begin their journey.

Visual Mockups
I created visual mockups for each of the slides and went through several iterations based on feedback from the SME and stakeholders. I also utilized Adobe Illustrator heavily for this project. By using Adobe Illustrator, I was able to manipulate and edit vector graphics and then bring them to my mockups.

Visual Storyboard
Once the overall visual design was agreed upon, I combined the mind map with the visual mockups to create a visual storyboard. In this, I included programming notes and files that would be needed for the project.

Interactive Protoype
Once my visual storyboard was complete, I started developing the eLearning experience in Articulate Storyline 360. I developed the prototype through each slide and 1 layer. This allowed users to experience the main features of the course. Once I completed the interactive prototype, I asked my peers, SMEs, and other stakeholders for feedback. I received feedback on animation length and slide transitions, and I made improvements to the experience accordingly.

Full Development
After receiving feedback and making appropriate changes to my interactive prototype, I developed the project completely using Articulate Storyline 360. The process went quickly and smoothly because of the detailed visual storyboard with programming notes I wrote.

Takeaways
I learned a lot by going through the entire development process for this project. Working with the SME on the Mind Map was the most helpful aspect of this project. It took time and multiple iterations to distill the most impactful information and make sure that the Mind Map was focused on the desired outcome for the learner. However, the clarity and direction the Mind Map provided was crucial to the success of the entire project.
If I were to do this project again, I would include downloadable packing lists to allow for easier transference of information. I would also build out a scenario to help learners to practice planning a trip with the tools that they have learned.
